So far it works quite amazingly... only very minor glitches every now and then and rock solid during offline export.

I'm interested in how many channels of audio you are able to stream over the 1gig ethernet card? I want to make sure that doesn't prove to be a bottle neck? Are we talking 10, 20, 30 or more?
Thanks

Actually I am still at 100mbit speed. I use a switch instead of a hub though... I didn't run into major trouble with the bandwith "yet". For example I had one project with 1-2 VSTi's on each server (samplers with big sample-sets), must have been about 40+ channels and it worked... of course, not all the channels where used at the same time, maybe Max is not moving audio data on channels that are silent...

FXT preferences also allow you to change the bit depth of the audio channels if you run into bandwith problems, and you can limit the number of transferred channels for multichannel VSTi's that can't change their output configuration. Unfortunately at this point, these are global settings, so there might be room for improvement... Wink

Yes, FXT zips completely silent buffers, but note that some VSTi (NI B4, for example) produces some sound even if you are not playing any note.

Maybe you could put a threshhold option in the preferences, so that the user could adjust the "silence" level. Is there a status display somewhere, that shows how much audio streams the master is receiving? That would be interesting too... Smile

Hi max,
So - conceivably, over a 1gig ethernet connection, how many stereo 44khz/16bit channel of sound would you expect to be able to send back to the master PC? I sounds like it is over and above what I need... just wondered from your own calculations?

16bit audio will consume twice less bandwidth, provided you have big enough audio buffer (500 samples). For smaller buffers advanage will be less than 2 times.

Nice idea.

The only way now is to see on NIC bandwidth usage (there is an page in XP task manager).

Maybe most plugins work fine and this feature isn't high on the list...

Hi,
Actually this feature is already implemented. I'm working on some fixes and going to release update soon.
