While this may be a bit late as SX3 largely supercedes FX-Freeze for freezing Audio tracks, our CD (done in SX2, link below) would have required a computer several times more powerful and multiple UAD-1 cards.
As it was, FX-Freeze was the critical enabler. Now it still has uses if despite SX3s Freeze, you still need to Freeze sub-mixes to save CPU power on Group FX or just to be able to disable several source tracks to give your HDD a rest while you mix other tracks. _________________ THIS IS A DEAD SITE |

Having said that, let me say this:
1. Hardware, while still being more expensive than FX-Freeze, is a lot cheaper than previously. Quad-core systems and 10krpm Raptor HDDs are not that expensive any more.
2. FX-Freeze is still more of a hassle (disabling other tracks and FX and unfreezing a track to do edits, then re-freezing and re-enabling the other tracks) than having enough DSP cards. UAD cards have become cheaper as well.
Therefore, I would say that if you are money-challenged, FX-Freeze is fantastic, otherwise upgrade for a simpler life. _________________ THIS IS A DEAD SITE |
